Curfew Tolls The Knell of Parting Day

Fear of decay looming large
Ringing the bell on every threshold
Solitary dungeons being created
A refugee at one’s own home
Where crowd was a norm
It wears a mourning cloak
Every report of casualty
Snowballing the horrors
And ask me what I am afraid of
Not the rampage wreaked
By this monstrous virus
O humans! Thou art severely infected
With the contagion of ignorance
Is it not more lethal
Than the one encroaching our spaces
Thy hearts bereft of compassion horrifies more
Call your reason at work
That heartless virus is not obedient to leave
At the stroke of your hands
Jettison this quackery
Let us follow the right prescriptions
Learn, O, people! Learn to co-exist.

An Undivisive Melange

A melange of colours
Red, blue, yellow, green and blah, blah
Madly mixed together
Faces smeared with
Crazily difficult to recognise
Range of resemblance looming large
All singing together the song of unison
Why do the poor lot become a prey
To those reckless few opportunists
Blind are the eyes that see one colour
Here every colour is made up
Of unthought medley of hues
And that’s what the chemists claim

A Mourning Morning

Two eyes peered clandestinely
Into those fluffy spirals of fuzzy smog
The morning in white coffin
And at the window
Sitting a body
Did anybody check
If the life flows through a vein at least
There ensued am encrypted correspondence
Between the body and the coffin
What could be deciphered was the morning’s retort
” I have asked the sunshine not to come
As long as I mourn the demise of reason”.

Shall It Not Be Remembered

Alloys of apathy burning
In the souls turned into furnaces
Howling wilderness of distrust
Doing a pagan dance
For humans reduced to chicken
Being butchered and chopped
Under the blunt knives of reason
And shall it not be remembered?
O, savage writers of of this gory chronicle
Does your heart not waver?
Do you not flinch at these bursting veins
Oh! This sight of pitiful exodus
Of harmless lot carrying the urns
Filled with the ashes of their dreams
And shall it not be remembered?

The Tale of Shunday

So I went outside the box
And looked through the window
At me sitting on a wooden chair painted brown
Two big eyes with myriad colours in
Resting fixed on quaint crumpled paper
A blue ball pen in the right hand
An ‘h’ encroached into ‘Sunday’
And now it was ‘shun day’
Intruding beams of sunshine seeming so intimidating
Noise of the young boys playing in the field
And the song being played on the microphone
All convinced the man on the chair
About the birth of a day
A menace to the night he is still into
Wearing off the spectacles to barricade the dreams

A Sinking City

I am a sinking city
Its inroads inundated
With dried showers
Of a never waited monsoon
Papers that once played correspondence
Now into boats wading through and through
Against the torrential currents
The deluge is heading to the city tower
Protestors scream, ‘ Go back’!
A derision shinning on oppressor’s facade
I am a sinking city
Why do you migrate to me?
My lanes are inundated
I am the Winter’s haunt
Buds wither before they bloom
For Spring has taken a final leave
Water has reached the door
Ants like it’s sneaking into
And soon it will scale the ceiling
I am a sinking city
I am a sinking city

Minstrel’s Studio

Come along
Hush! Ask your footsteps not to sing loud
Let me show you the topography of this place
This small round terrain
Somewhere in one corner
It screams hoarsely
And there in the  right hemisphere
A battlefield laid out
Trenches difficult to count open
The army fililing the air
With the dust of opinionated tension
And why are the bombs and bullets not used?
For the war is to be perpetualised
And from that ground of rubble
Do I sing the cries of the soul
The absence of  rhyme scheme is not deliberate
Quotidian bruises impede them
The helpless minstrel sings from this water tight haunt

The Last Companion

The night was sleeping
And I was widely awake
Making note of everything happening
Sky was coal black
They say stars took a night leave
For the sick moon was to be attended
From hundred of miles  away
A howling cry of winds banging this city
Deserted highways full of dust
Waited for the noise of squeaking wheels
In the corner where two walls meets
Spider halted the  web making venture
Even the bulbs were not flickering
The desperate find of companionship
Escorted the ears to the bathroom sink
The untightly closed tap emancipating
Emancipating the contingent of tiny drops
Dripping in swift succession
With them I made a tapestry of safety

Return of a Dawn

The nights of my days
Saw a dawn of fresh breath
With a  sunshine romancing
Through the half opened window pane
Dancing beams on the radiant moon
Tossing and turning on a blanket laid bed
And my birth chanced upon
For a a life wading through your smiles
Penetrated into a dead me
Turning all my cells alive

Horror of the Hour

Blood oozing nails
Hanging to the eyes
Distort the round pallor
And insanely injure the spewing wounds
Loud lamentations of pains evolving
Into the syllables of sorrow
In the room next door
A resounding fit of laughter
At their caused savage sadism
Deafens the agitating screams
