Your undue absence
And thirst shot up to the brim
Water he drank turned into blood
Now smeared are his lips
With bloody red

Induced to sleep the shaky legs
Inched forth the bedroom
Harrowing horror hugged him tightly
Blindfolded as he was
In his inebriated state

Pulled a torch out of his overcoat
Shoved the button
Dark as coal came the light
And fear in its hideous avatar
Danced as if it was drunk to its throat

Soon a thought of yours
A nebulous presence
An illuminating comfort
Sang a lullaby
A peaceful sleep ensued
