River Hooghly

At the dawn when I walked the bridge
And sips of breath inhaled
Of living Hooghly river
At once the feet felt locked up
An absloute physical impasse

The beauty of its depth
Eyes of my psyche drew sight of
Waged a war against my rationality
And at once my body sought to kiss it
Do you know
What’s the price did it ask for?
My life off me

And then laughter ensued
A very petty price tag
That I could throw without a thought
The stupified river gaped at me
As if she wants to know the reason of my laughter

Now the beaming face said,
An infinite number of lives inhabit me
I am never me but them
And at once the profoundity
of its depth
Embraced me.
